Katie Holmes flashed a perfect pair of pins when she appeared on the Good Morning America show last week. So how does the mother of seven-year-old Suri keep them in such good shape?

A keen runner, the 34-year-old completed the New York marathon three years ago and credits running with keeping her legs so lean. She also does plenty of other leg-strengthening workouts, sticking to a rigorous four workouts a week which include running, cycling, spinning and yoga.

What to try: Wall-sits are a great, basic exercise that really help strengthen and tone the legs.

Start with your back against a wall with your feet shoulder width apart and about 2ft from the wall.

Slowly slide your back down the wall until your thighs are parallel to the ground. Adjust your feet if you need to so your knees are directly above your ankles (rather than over your toes). Don’t arch your back.

Hold the position for as long as possible – and try to do it for longer next time.
