Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic beat China’s Zheng Saisai 6-3, 6-4 to win the women’s singles title at the 2013 ITF women’s circuit tournament in Sanya, south China’s Hainan province, on Saturday.

"I think I had a good week, I played good. I’m improving every day, and the first day wasn’t good like this. Zheng wasn’t playing bad, so I pushed hard, and it’s a hard match really," said Pliskova.

The tournament attracted more than 60 players from 15 countries and regions including China, the USA, Russia, Australia and Thailand.

This year sees the third time for Sanya to host the tournament. The prize this year has been upgraded to 50,000 US dollars.
