Bending over backwards to reach the top: Xiu Hua is the youngest member of the acrobatics troupe
Contorting her tiny body into all manner of excruciating shapes, this Chinese girl endures an agonising training regime in the hope of becoming the next star of the acrobatics world.
But seven-year-old Xiu Hua is less concerned about the potential fame that may come with her talent.
Rather, she simply wants to earn enough money to haul her family out of poverty.
Xiu Hua, from southern China’s Hunan Province, is the youngest member of the the Fujian Provincial Acrobatics Troupe after being sent there a year ago by her parents.
In many of these troupes, children perform the same actions over and over again until they are perfected.
Each month, the difficulty level is then raised and they learn a new set of even tougher stunts.
Showing a maturity not matching to her age, Xiu Hua never makes a noise during the tough training, even when the pain is almost unbearable.
