33-Pound Tumor Removed from 2-Year-Old Jesus Gabriel
In Mexico, 2-year-old Jesus Gabriel is expected to make a full recovery after doctors removed a tumor earlier this month that weighed more than their patient, reports the Associated Press (video below).
At 33 pounds, the tumor was so large that it was cutting off Gabriel’s oxygen supply.
But after 10 hours of surgery on June 14, doctors in Mexico City called the procedure a success.
This the first time doctors in Mexico had ever removed a growth that was larger than the person carrying it.
