Tennis: 2012 ‘Wanning Cup’ to kick off in Haikou, Hainan
The 2012 ‘Wanning Cup’ China Amateur Tennis Open is to kick off in Haikou from 27th June to 1st July.
The tournament has attracted 232 amateur tennis players home and abroad to participate in. It will feature singles, doubles and mixed doubles plays. Winners of each competition will battle for a prize purse of 99,000 yuan.
The tournament is sponsored by the Chinese Tennis Association, supported by the Wanning Municipal Government, Hainan Daily Press Group and Hainan Fitness Center.
This is the first time for Hainan to host such a national tennis event, aiming at promoting amateur tennis in China.
Launched in 2004, the China Amateur Tennis Open has organized 62 tournaments in 27 cities, spurring greater interest in tennis among amateur players.
