Haikou to build 2 wetland parks to boost ‘ecological Haikou’
Haikou Mangrove Forest Wetland
Haikou is going to build Mangrove Forest Wetland Park and Baishuitang Wetland Park, as a part of the construction of the “ecological Haikou”, and which can stabilize the area of wetlands and enhance the city’s ecological function.
These two wetland parks plan to open in 2014.
The Mangrove Forest Wetland Park covers an area of 1000 hectares. It will rely on the mangrove forests in Dongsai Harbor and the wetland resources of the East Coast, focusing on the protection of the mangrove forests and the diversity of creatures.
Baishuitang Wetland Park covers an area of 500 hectares, which is located at the junction of the east-line highway and the round-city highway. A large area of natural lakes and marsh wetlands there and diverse creatures make it a high conservation value park.
