According to relevant departments, the Sanya national diving training centre is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2013, reports 0898.net.
Located at the Dadonghai Tourism Zone Area, the diving training centre was put into use in April 30, 1992. It was used as a famous diving training venue for the Barcelona Olympic event as many athletes had achieved outstanding records after getting their training here.
However, the outdated facilities can no longer meet the requirements for diving training. After considering it, some authorities has approved its reconstruction to better service athletes.
The reconstruction started in October this year and is divided into A and B phases. The whole project will be completed in the first half of 2013. Upon completion, it will become a modern training centre equipped with a national standard diving pool, a training hall and athletes’ apartments.
