The United States’ Charles Huff saved the best for the last and beat a handful group of early leaders with the last 5km ride to win the 146.4km third stage from Wuzhishan to Xinglong of the fifth Tour of Hainan on Wednesday.

The Jelly Belly rider, 31 years old, clocked three hours 45 minutes and 56 seconds to win the race with a climbing point of 757 meters altitude high ahead of a sprint point and the other climbing point of 444m followed by the second sprint point in the middle of the race.

Russia rider Sergey Kudentsov of Indonesia’s Polygon Sweet Nice finished second and Ukraine national team’s Yuriy Metlushenko was the third with the same time.
