The Haikou government has worked out plans to renovate the Qilou (arcade buildings) Street in its downtown area, a street with multi-story building integrating Chinese and European architectural styles, reports xinhuanet.com.
 
According to the government plan, the city will invest 4.7 billion yuan to upgrade Qilou Street, covering about 121 hectares. The renovation project will preserve the original layout of Qilou Street.
 
At present, the Qilou Street, which is located in Haikou’s shopping area, have gathered a variety of commercial activities. It has become a must visit for many foreign and domestic tourists when traveling to Haikou. Besides, Qilou Street also provide great convenience for local residents to purchase their daily necessities.
 
The renovation project of Qilou Street is part of Hainan’s 12th Five-Year Plan. The renovation will offer visitors a full glimpse into the history of Haikou.
