Two WBC MUAYTHAI world titles will head a mega-fight card in Haikou City, the capital city of Hainan Island, China, on 21 August.
 
The WBC sanctioning of the event will be a major attraction for the Hanoi province, which is developing as a premier sports and holiday destination.
 
Promoter of the event is WBC MUAYTHAI promoter in China, Jianjun (Tony) Chen in association with USA Muaythai promoter Dennis Warner.
 
Contenders for the two WBC MUAYTHAI World Championships:
 
1. Female lightweight championship
Miriam Nakamoto (USA) vs Claire Haigh (Luxemburg)
 
2. Men’s lightweight championship
Hiromasa Masuda (Japan) vs Jaroenchai Oaddonmuang (Thailand)
 
3. Superfight featuring Kaoklia Kennorising, WBC Light Heavyweight World Champion.
 
Vice Governor of Hainan Province, Chen Ya Jun said the WBC brand of international boxing and martial arts Muaythai would bring the "very best ring sport attraction " to China’s popular southern island.
 
"It’s a prestigious event that will generate much interest in China and in countries worldwide."
 
Haikou City Deputy Mayor Zhu Han Song told a press conference in Haikou City on 21 July that the People’s Government of China had positioned Hainan Island for rapid development as a sporting and tourist destination.
 
"We are pleased that the international renowned WBC can stage two Muaythai World Championships here on Hainan Island on 21 August. All the processes have been approved and everything is now in place to make this WBC event a major attraction with wide global appeal."
 
Promoter Jianjun Chen said Hainan had all the attractions for a leisure and sport destination of first class standards. "This will be a standout sporting event that will showcase all the great fighting skills and courage of Muaythai. It will be a wonderful attraction for China and the world."
