Overweight girl refused admission to Haikou Tourism Vocational School
The girl received the admission notice but was told to shed some weight so she could fit into the school uniform
A junior high school graduate was refused admission to the Haikou Tourism Vocational School in Hainan province because she is obese.
The 16-year-old girl, who cleared the interview in May, was told to shed some weight so she could fit into the school uniform.
When she went to the school to officially enroll on Sunday, a teacher publicly insulted her for being overweight.
The principal said the girl would only be admitted if she loses considerable weight in two months, adding it is difficult for overweight people to find jobs.
The girl agreed to the challenge and vowed to return to the school after spending two months on the treadmill.
