More cross-strait ethnic minority exchange bases planed in Hainan
Wuzhishan, which is located in central Hainan’s Baoting County, is presently the only ethnic minority themed cross-strait exchange base in China.
Officials said Hainan plans to set up three cross-strait friendship villages as exchange bases for receiving Taiwan ethnic minority tourists.
Cross-strait exchange activities have been growing fast in frequency in recent years.
Statistics show that the number of Taiwanese tourists visiting Baoting’s Binglanggu reached more than 10,000 in 2012, making Binglanggu the primary tourism spot for the reception of Taiwanese tourists.
Government officials said, along with friendship villages, a number of other cross-strait ethnic minority exchange projects will also be constructed in the near future, including a Taiwan Folk Cultural Museum and Taiwan Culinary art and Handcrafts Museum, which are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014.
