2013 Sanyuesan Festival to kick off at Sanya Dadonghai Plaza
The 2013 Sanyuesan Festival, the largest traditional festival of the Li and Miao minorities in Hainan, is to kick off at Sanya Dadonghai plaza on April 11 (March 3 of the Chinese Lunar Calendar).
This year the event will have 3 main activities, namely the opening ceremony & themed cultural performance party, minority intangible cultural heritage exhibition and traditional ethnic sports competition.
1. The opening ceremony & themed cultural performance party
The 90-minute event will be held at 8:00 pm at Sanya Dadonghai plaza on April 11, and a series of ethnic music and dance shows will be staged.
2. Minority intangible cultural heritage exhibition
The Li minority’s spinning, dyeing, brocade and embroidery techniques, Miao minority’s embroidery and batik techniques and many other intangible cultural heritage treasures of Hainan province will be displayed at the event.
3. Traditional ethnic sports competition
The competition will be held on April 12, 2013. Seven traditional ethnic fun sports competitions are to kick off on the day.
