Sanya to set up twelve 24-hour self-service libraries this year
A total of 7 24-hour self-service libraries have been set up in Sanya.
On 20th May, a delegation led by Propaganda Minster of Sanya Sun Su visited Shenzhen and made an on-the-spot investigation of Shenzhen’s 24-hour self-service libraries.
The 24-hour self-service library belongs to public welfare establishments which are supported by the government. Readers can apply for library cards, check out and return books on the terminal without any time limit.
Originating from Shenzhen, this self-developed high-tech system is honored as “the Third-Generation Library”. Up to now, a total of 160 24-hour self-service libraries have been set up in Shenzhen.
According to Sun, in terms of Shenzhen’s self-service libraries, there is a lot to learn. So far, 7 24-hour self-service libraries have been set up and put into service in Sanya. A total of 3,600 library cards have been given out since the first library operated from January, 2011.
Moreover, another 12 libraries are expected to be added at Sanya’s airports, schools, restaurants and streets this year.
