The Sanyuesan Festival is the largest traditional festival of the Li and Miao minorities in Hainan Province which takes place on the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month of the year. It is also a special day for boys and girls to express their love through singing and dancing competition. Therefore, the festival is also viewed as "Valentines’ Day" by Li and Miao minorities.
 
Themed as "Dancing & singing to display the ethnic cultures and romantic Sanya", the Sanyuesan Festival will include 4 main activities:
 
1. Bamboo dance carnival

Place: Through Guangming Road to Jinjiling Road, Binhai Avenue, Sanya Bay
 
2. Minority intangible cultural heritage display
Time: AM 9:30 2nd to AM 3rd 12:00 April
Place: Near the Haiyue Plaza, Sanya Bay
 
3. Ethnic athletic competition
Time: AM 09:30 2nd to AM 3rd 12:00 April
Place: Sanya Bay
 
4. Ethnic featured food display
Time: AM 11:30 – 19:00 2nd April
Place: Binhai Avenue, Sanya Bay
