Lounging on the Beach with Drink in Hand
All year long, people flock from all over China and the world to Sanya’s most international and enjoyable beach. Dadonghai is such a great place to unwind. Without a doubt, watching the sun move along the horizon is better with a cold beverage. One place that serves up an excellent selection for all tastes is WOS Beach Bar, located right on Dadonghai beach. For those looking to replenish your thirst with a fresh fruit drink, try the Banana Smoothie. This lactose-free concoction is made with coconut milk and Hainan fruit. Other favorites are: pineapple, papaya, dragon fruit, and the Sanya carrot special. If you’re looking for something with a kick, go for the Mango Daiquiri. There is a full bar and extensive drink list. Try one….two….or three of them!
Then there’s the other option: grabbing a bottle of your favorite imported wine, a corkscrew, and wine glasses. Few things are more romantic and leisurely than a slow walk down the beach with a loved one. Watching life happen around you and stopping casually as you go to pour another glass. It’s a great way to enjoy your beach time and chat about something or nothing at all. Depending on your tastes, there are several shops selling various qualities and varieties of wine in Dadonghai. However, if there’s a certain vintage that you’re looking for, the best selection would probably be found in the Summer Mall (夏日百货). On the 5th floor of Dadonghai’s newest luxury goods mall is the Corner Deli. It has a large selection of imported wines and various munchies to accompany it. There is a 10% discount with WOS Member card. If you feeling like making your own fun, a quick stop to the store would easily set up a few hours of pleasure while listening to the crashing of the waves on the beach.
Beachside Activities & Fitness
Just because Dadonghai is a place for relaxation, it doesn’t mean one should sleep through the many things to do here. Up and down the beach, a selection of assorted activities can be had. It’s possible to rent equipment for pontoon biking, parasailing, wave running, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, and more. Try something new! To get the blood pumping a little more, you might be able to join in on a beach volleyball game. If you’re still thinking about doing something a bit less adventurous, there are lounge chairs with a grass umbrella for rent. There are also kites for sale. Of course, time at the beach wouldn’t be complete without a little “people watching”. Dadonghai is known for its’ international visitors. Take a look at some of the habits and customs of the people on the beach around you. You’re sure to notice something "interesting”.
Some people take the fresh air and clean environment seriously. There are few better places to improve fitness than the beach. A morning jog, a swim in the sea, or something more rigorous can be done out in the open here. The positive effects of a good work out will improve the rest of your day. If you decide that you’d prefer to stick to a more structured exercise regiment, Dadonghai has a newly opened modern workout gym. Located across the street from the Dadonghai Square bus stop, you’ll find all the dumbbells, barbells, treadmills, and more here. The Jicheng Body Building Club (吉成健美健身俱乐部) is offering a 20% discount on an annual membership with WOS Member card. There is a balance to find between lounging around Dadonghai and keep in good health. Maybe drinking a smoothie while on the treadmill?!!

There’s an old saying that “All roads lead to Rome”. Well, in Sanya, almost all roads lead to Dadonghai. From West to East, the 3 bus stops are Lulinglukou (鹿岭路口), Xiaribaihuo – Summer Mall (夏日百货), and Dadonghaiguangchang – Dadonghai Square (大东海广场). Easily accessible by bus from anywhere in the city, there are 10 different bus lines with these stops. Buses 2, 4, and 8 are the most common. Buses 15, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 28 will get you there from anywhere else in the city. Though the inner city buses are cheap at only 1 RMB per person, note that they don’t make change. Of course, you can also take a taxi! From Yalong Bay, the fare is about RMB60. From the airport, the fare is a bit less. However, it’s always best to use the meter.
