Duke University porn star Belle Knox, real name Miriam Weeks, tells FOX411 that she has been receiving numerous death threats on campus.
"Duke Blew Devil" Belle Knox is going back to school — and getting back on the pole.
The Duke University freshman — paying for her education by working in porn — said Wednesday that despite death threats, she’ll return to class Thursday and, soon after, take the stage at a North Carolina strip club.
“It’s kind of scary that people would take it that far,” said Knox, 18, real name Miriam Weeks. “But I can’t let that stop me from doing what I want to do.”
Knox said she “really loved” performing in front of the trenchcoat crowd in her exotic dancing debut Tuesday, at the Headquarters club in Midtown.
But she said that “porn allows me to be more creative.”
The hostility and vitriol has come from both sides of the polarizing porn issue, Weeks said.
“I think that women resent me more, but I do get a lot of the slut-shaming from guys,” she said on FOX11.
The actress said she has already shot more than 25 scenes and is well on her way to affording Duke’s hefty tuition of roughly $45,000 per year.
Miriam Weeks, known as Duke University porn star Belle Knox, did a one-song striptease at Midtown Manhattan club Headquarters on Tuesday night.
Weeks, originally from Spokane, Wash, and the daughter of a doctor, did not disclose how much she made from her one-song striptease.
Weeks made waves earlier this month when she ditched her wholesome facade and revealed she had a porn career on the blog xojane.com.
Her extracurricular activities were a product of necessity, Weeks said, because her parents couldn’t afford to pay for her college tuition. She conceded that she would opt for a much more affordable college if given the chance to change her decision.
Her real name was plastered on the Internet by fellow freshman Thomas Bagley, who has also drawn considerable heat for his involvement in the controversy.
“He's a good person. At the end of the day its between me and him,” Weeks told FOX. I don't want him to be harassed.”
Weeks told the Daily News that she enjoys her racy line of work and eventually wants to be a lawyer.
