A US magician has filmed himself scaring people with a surprisingly realistic Halloween stunt that sees him sneeze his head off his shoulders.
Footage posted online shows Rich Ferguson standing in front of a woman in an alley in California when he suddenly sneezes and his head drops from his shoulders, prompting the woman to shriek.
Ferguson goes on to pull the stunt on a number of other people who have similar reactions, including a group of young schoolboys who run away screaming in terror.
Ferguson posted the video online on October 19.
"During the day this is a great illusion, but during night and in a more vulnerable setting, this freaks people out big time!" an explanation accompanying the video states.
To carry out the illusion Ferguson wears a special suit that allows him to move his head to make it look like it has fallen off.
His legs and arms are free during the trick, which can be viewed from multiple angles without giving him away.
"Please do not confuse this illusion with the somewhat popular prank/gag of shoving your jacket up via different methods. Rich does not hove his jacket up during this illusion," the person who posted the video explained.
