The damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant where more explosions occurred.

CHINA remains unaffected by radioactive leaks following the latest explosion at the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan, the National Nuclear Safety Administration said yesterday.

Experts at the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau also said the city's radiation levels were normal.

The bureau said it began monitoring on Saturday and had found nothing that could be related to Japan's nuclear leaks. Monitoring would continue round the clock, officials said.

Shanghai Meteorological Bureau also said the city wouldn't be affected by radiation.

Officials said air currents between Shanghai and Fukushima were mainly moving east and they scotched rumors that there were radioactive pollutants in the city's recent rainfall.
