Learning Mandarin/Chinese Experiences

This group is for talking about experiences with the Chinese language. Some people have studied in different places and different ways. Others have talked about it for years. Still others just don't want to bother. If you have something to say on the topic, let it be said here.

Examples are: funny stories of miscommunication, missed opportunities to make a new friend, stories of getting cheated (or you thought), bargaining to buy something, opinions on its' importance for future generations, success stories of people you know in learning Mandarin, interesting facts or statistics, etc.
